    Hyperthymesia

    Aurelien Hayman

The 20-year-old is one of only a handful of people in the world with hyperthymesia, or highly superior autobiographical memory.

Pick any day from his teenage years and he can recall every detail of it ? while most of us will remember no more than 11 events from each year of our life.

Information about conversations he had, programmes he watched and even songs he heard are all part of Aurelien?s astonishing recall.

Amazing in depth study of these people opens up new knowledge bases of creativity and imagination bringing new understanding of how the human brain works ? extraordinary!

Hyperthymesia, also known as piking or hyperthymestic syndrome is a condition in which an individual possesses a superior autobiographical memory, meaning he or she can recall the vast majority of personal experiences and events in his or her life. The term "hyperthymesia" is derived from the Greek words "thymesis," meaning "remembering," and "hyper," meaning "excessive."

Do you remember what happened on June 3rd, 1986? How about April 19th, 1994? If you're Marilu Henner you do. The actress is one of 12 people in the world who has been diagnosed with hyperthymesia, which is also known as Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory. Basically, Henner can recall every single day of her life.

Henner, who is probably best known for playing Elaine Nardo in the hit TV show "Taxi," can recall the exact moment when she got the part.

    Henner said:

"It was June 4 of 1978. It was a Sunday and I found out at the ‘Grease' premiere party. ‘Taxi' is so vivid to my mind. The very first rehearsal was July the 5th of 1978. That was a Wednesday and our first show was shot the 14th, a Friday."

    Never you mind.
My friend watched a Doc about her and said she was reminded of me. I can recall details from conversations and know dates and times of almost every event post 2001. I can tell you what I had for dinner on any date or what homework or pages I was working in work books, etc.

I haven't watched the Doc about her but Im assuming Im not as good at this as her! She sounds amazing. But I often find my friends / family phoning me up for backup when it comes to random events from the past so I can give them a clear memory of what happened that day.

    You had Cheesecake. :D

I just wish I had this syndrome so I can recall each and every sites I go through everyday and optimize all my sites like them to rank high on Google. The possibilities are endless but the only bad thing is you can't forget any negative incidents happened in your life which will totally ruin your whole life.lol This post REMINDS me the Limitless movie. :)

Weird!! I'm also able to do this. I can remember reg plates going back decades, of old friends, family and just random peoples. I can name the car, colour and model number just by remembering the reg plate, or the other way round. My memory sucks with anything else, including peoples names and birthdays and stuff. But reg plates seem to stick in my mind. It kinda happens without really trying.

I find it odd how he says it doesn't help him in school at all.

Regardless of him saying he only remember autobiographical memories. If you can remember pin-point exact dates and the color shirt he was wearing at any given time you would think he could do the same thing from a book/teacher/film that he could recall back to help him on a test. I mean, even normal people do this. You would think his would be super charged. /shrug
