Hurricane Irene Path?

I am right on the coast in NC. We just got done boarding up our condo at the beach. About to brace my garage door now. I'm ready for it... Seems like the news does not know what is happening so I am preparing for the worst.

"The next question is what Irene will do the U.S. East Coast, with some estimates putting more than $4 trillion of insured coastal property in its path. The losses, by some accounts, could be enormous. An analysis by New York Times statistics blog FiveThirtyEight found that a Category 2 hurricane making landfall within even 100 miles of New York City would cause at least $2.15 billion in economic losses in the city alone. If landfall was within 50 miles, the losses would approach $10 billion in the city. If Irene is sufficiently large, the insured losses it causes could lead to an industrywide firming of or rise in prices, after years of declines caused by heavy competition and excess capacity."

In North Carolina........Will finally be getting my yearly bath, gonna stand outside with my arms raised way up in the air, if it takes me, Then it takes me......c-ya all and wish me luck.

I guess I'll represent Maine. They're saying it'll probably be a weak category 1 or tropical storm by the time it gets here. The path is supposed to bring it through New Hampshire now, so I'll be on the east side of the storm, which I believe is the stronger side. Supposed to get 50-70 mph winds and 6-8 inches of rain.

Only thing I'm doing to prepare is I'll go outside tomorrow and get all the kids toys and bikes put away, put the patio set away and make sure my generator is gassed up. Other than that I'm going to hang out at home and make some money for as long as my internet is working.

At my summer house in Long Beach Island, NJ. Hoping for the best.

LBI, I used to run the length of the Island for a race every year back in the day.

It was a half marathon 13.1 miles.

My best in that race was when I came in 5th.

NY is just making a big deal about it because they are shutting down the subway and busses. I believe they are just doing it as a sneaky way to save millions of dollars! When the storm reaches NYC it will only be a small storm. No reason to worry!
