Huge traffic without ranking for anything?

Please help me understand something because my brain is freakin fried trying to comprehend this...


I have a decent number of different websites that rank somewhere on the first page of google for very decent keyword "Exact" number of searches. I barely get by traffic wise and in desperate search for more...

Yet I see these HUGE websites, forums and blogs that dont rank for ANY terms worth a damn, dont advertise, no PPC, no youtube,no twitter, no facebook pages... no nothing.

Yet these forums/blogs have 50k +members and 6k uniques a day.


There must be something I am missing here because I cant figure this crap out for the life of me.

A lot of websites like that get the traffic from referrals. I imagine that is how BHW got so big also. What happens, and this is just my opinion is this, someone comes here and finds some information useful. Next time this someone is chatting on skype to his buddy that is thinking about internet marketing, or emailing one of the people under him in a group or some kind of contact this person says, "you should check out bhw" then that person comes here and does the same thing.

Hope that makes some kind of sense. If you can turn your site into a membership/forum/social network type site, you can do the same thing to become popular. You just have to have the right amount of good information or offer something.

You could always offer a Free IPOd or something like that to the person that invites the most people to your site. Just use a script and there you go.

Autoblog+ [auto content+image] from search engine api + auto backlink (feed->update social network)

I develop my own method, it generate massive web pages, unlimited content because actually the content is from search engine itself, generate on request when visitor visit my site like mysite.com/search/xxxxxxxx

A lot of people use coupon sites. You can find them listed here on BHW

Most of these forums start from other forums that people are not so happy with. Unfortunately most of this type of traffic is useless for things like PPC & other affiliate stuff. I know a few people who run this type of forums & they barely brake even with their hosting costs.
There are other good ways to make money out of this kind of traffic too though.

well I must be a member on 50,000 forums and I've never visited one of them, so membership numbers is no relation to actual traffic.

And I also visit a hell of a lot of blogs without really reading any of them. Each time using a different IP.
