Hi all,
I'm not really sure if this is in the right forum so please accept my apologies if its not.
I have an established website that purely targets the UK with a .co.uk extension
The site has been running since November 2009 with regular updates and has always performed well in Google. Over the past few months I have seen the sites rankings grow naturally until I could publish posts and hit the first page (often top 3) with no link building at all.
However over the past week or so this happened
Doh I cant post images yet, basically I went from 1000 people a day (dec 21st) from Google to 500 (24th Dec) for a few days, down to 100 (dec 31st) and has carried on like that since.
The vast majority of my rankings are gone, with just a few still sat at their original positions.
Each of the pages I build include-
100% unique content
Imagery
Embeded video which is part of the videositemap
Links to relevant external sites
Keyword density between 2%-4%
LSI keywords included
Title tags are written like KEYWORD - Title, eg BLUE WIDGETS - What You Need To Know
I spent sometime going through webmastertools and spooted a couple of warnings but they have been warnings since I can ever remember
One is that i use the googlevideositemap plugin which creates 301 redirects for the sitemap.
I also have a plugin that creates new pages for comments but this flags up as duplicate title/meta info.
Other than that, webmastertools looks perfect but both of those have been in webmastertools for a while so I doubt they have made an impact.
I'm a bit lost by this, I thought my site had grown to become an authority in its niche with its first page publishing power.
I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to share some advice or perhaps share similar experiences throughout the december period.
Thank you kindly for your time.
