huffington post is now nofollow

I tried searching the forums but it looks like this hasn't been posted

the US version of huffington post is now nofollow

The .au and .in version has not been affected yet but it is my opinion that soon those will be nofollow too

I am thinking they got tired of all the paid links on there and took this measure to stop it?

by the way, this affects all articles, new and old, so if you have an article from years ago, go check it out, your link is nofollow

Yeah it's been known. It's done on a per-author basis. If the author reaches a certain level Huffpo, their links and articles are whitelisted. All the others are limited and no-followed.

That's the last I knew, I don t know if the policy changed to 100% nofollow now, but I'd say that's just more distortion introduced on the WWW by Google PageRank.

A link that is nofollow is a complete contradiction about the nature of the WWW itself....in a sense, Google PageRank totally fucked the WWW's natural interlinking pattern.

Could be a brilliant or idiotic move by HuffPo. Essentially they are forcing their contributors to do all the heavy lifting of promoting their blog posts themselves.

Consider try driving social signals to your HP blog post and see if that triggers something that gets the page indexed. There's a post out there of someone who did that experiment successfully.

Huff get a LOT of their content from shitty spammers writing content just to drop a link, they may well regret this in the long run if their level of publication drops. Free writers won't write for free as much without the black hatters shoveling them cash.

In my opinion paying hundreds of dollars for 1 link is not wise in most cases.

Paying so much money for 1 huffpro link isn't worth the SEO benefit. You can use that money to do a lot more.

For legit businesses, it's more about being featured on huffintonpro rather than getting the link juice.
