Hub Pages/Keyword Stuffing?

If you use hub pages, you can create a long list of keywords which appear on the right hand side of the page.
This is very close to some form of "keyword stuffing".?
Yet hub pages do not seem to attract any form of google penalty and rank well.
How does this work.?

There call TAGS.............Keyword tags

Thanks... but if you actually read my post I wasnt asking how to use the keyword tags or why.

I was asking why the keywords/keyword tag column is not defined as some form of keyword stuffing.

i think it's because these type of web 2.0 social sites run on a tagging system. so if they busted you all the time for using their own setup, they wouldn't be very popular.

Actually, the more tags you have, the better, as you then get a link from each tag page.

Google tags in hub pages for your niche (site:hubpages.com "Hot Hubs" KEYWORD), and then add those tags (stolen from an ebook on this site). Can be done for squidoo too.

Make sure that the tags are relevant to the topic of the page. Off topics tags can be viewed as keyword stuffing by search engines ...

hub pages will make the links on your hub "no follow" if they think your site is "spammy" or doesn't seem to be "contributing to the community."

Keyword stuffing is when you add words to a page simply for keyword purposes, words that have no value to the visitor. But you see, those tags DO have value for the visitor! They're links to more relevant content in the niche.

Tagging is typically an internal system on a website to find relevant content, therefore you're less likely to be penalized on an external engine like google. This may help with SEO, but your tags wont have the same weight as actual content.

I have seen quite a few instance where google has penalized sites because of the amount of tags, but I truly think that it had to do with ones that were too far off topic from the main niche of the site. When people used tags for internet marketing on a football site, it didn't turn out so good in the end, but when the tags were football related they were just fine.
