So, I've just started working on one of my sites, a car hire based affiliate sales site.

I don't really rank anywhere and I get next to no visits at the moment, although I'm edging closer every day. I don't really have a budget as I've only made one sale as yet, but I was wondering if it's worth switching to HTTPS.

Some of my terms are 20-30th position, and I know HTTPS is a light weight ranking signal, has anyone seen any decent gains in rankings from the switch?

As john mueller said, HTTPS will just give you an advantage over websites that have the same ranking as you.

HTTPS helps in your Repo a lil bit but right now more then that I think you should concentrate more on link building and all

Never believe anything John Mueller says.

But surely, that means you can over take sites in your niche that have HTTP, which would be quite a significant boost.

Yeah my efforts have recently been around link building, and that was my initial thoughts.

Just confirms what I was thinking really, cheers.

Contradictions with 302 passing Page Rank / Link Juice he also contradicts himself a lot in Google hangouts....

Not just John Mueller necessarily, don't take everything anyone from Google writes on Twitter as bible...

He was quite clear on the 302 redirection. It passes juice as it's supposed to. It's a temporary redirection.
On a technical point of view, he always gives the correct informations. It's up to the people listening to understand what are the implication of technical indications.

No, he wasn't. He said something along the lines of "I don't know about link juice, but it passes PageRank"

Now, reading into it, yeah he is skirting along the lines of saying 302s pass weight, and it's still up in the air as to if this is actually true. receptional.com/blog/301s-302s-pagerank-and-a-whole-lot-of-confusion - can't post links

I don't see nothing in contradiction with what John Mueller said. He's just not using the term Link Juice because it's not a Google term, which prefer pagerank.
