I believe dhgate.com uses a escrow system now, so until the product reaches the customers hands the seller won't get paid until it does. I am pretty new to this also. If it doesn;t reach your money is refunded back. I guess to weed out the scammers as mentioned earlier

I've dealt with DH gate for a couple years now. Never had any problems. Got my money back when the item was poop quality.

Best to go to "advance search" and tick the box for "powersellers". Ask questions before you buy (now they have instant chat, which is great), ie "is this US version/version that has been sold in US, etc". I've had sellers tell me NOT to buy certain stuff because they said that US customers won't be happy with it.
