I do know https means this website is SSL.

let say a visitor type http// your website

also can access to your website no problem right? even the backlinks etc will not affected? After you make your site to SSL ?
 
Yes, all links will continue working. Just make sure to redirect all unsecure traffic to https.
 
sorry what you mean un secure traffic? Ok thanks , kinda noob, I test my self those old links which don't have " s " behind http it does work to to my new url https

yes, no problem if your visitor types http. the backlinks will still remain unaffected. the SSL is just to secure your website from financial hackers that may want to steal personal details from your site users or visitors.
 
I think the norm is to auto redirect http - https if you set up https. That way everyone gets redirected to one place, juice gets transferred and so on.

But as said above, no need for ssl unless you are processing payments directly on your site.
 
oh gee , I just done it lol for just the seek of it. My site is v blog and affiliate for amazon , click bank of course but my site is a not store site or got any processing payments.
