So at the moment this is just a question, however, depending on the answer it could lead to much more. My question is, is there, or was there any benefit to searching/scraping Google when it was http as opposed to now where everything is forced through https? I noticed a couple months ago that they had made some kind of update that now forces everything through https://www.google.com instead of being able to use just good old fashioned http. My other question is, did that effect anyone, and if so, how? Thanks a ton and sorry if this seems rather random or stupid, I'm just trying to wrap my mind around something. Have a great day everyone.

I don't know anything about SEO really period, good or bad. I'm curious for a different reason entirely. I found a way to go back to using plain http for searching/scraping and was wondering if there's anything different about the way Google does it now that would make using the old http search better. I'm thinking for some kind of scraping purposes or maybe something else.

May be Google is forcing security for everyone, or saving its own business.
