In short do both...
If you are https enabled it is best practise to redirect all http requests to https. I would changing the links if possible, google prefers https (supposedly)
If the site ran on http for a long time, it looks natural if you got some links to http.
Of course for maximum juice, you should move links to https, but a link profile where you control all links and suddenly move to https does not look natural.
