One of the sites I handle changed it's url structure from http:// www.newdomain.com/ to https:// www.newdomain.com/

what could be the effect in SEO after this change? Does Google see http and https different?

From my understanding, that doesn't affect anything. I think it is seen as the same page. If not, the link juice is passed through anyways.

https // is only for the secure servers and it wont affect your seo or any benefit.
