    Hello BHW,

So, if i have a website that is an affiliate trying to sell sports shoes (for example). I want to dedicate a page to a specific product. when someone clicks on the picture of that shoe, it would take them to the buying page of that exact shoe instead of the home page of that affiliate authority store.

i apologize but this is the best way i can think of on how to ask this question.
any answers and feedback is greatly appreciated.

    thanks

So, what your after is the html code to be able to make a graphic into a link, that will go to the specific webpage on the website of the company you are an affiliate for? Or are you trying to just link it to a page on your own website?

I'm not sure exactly what your asking, but here is the code to make a picture a hyperlink

    Code:
    <a href="http://www.what-ever-webiste-you-want.com"><img src="http://website-with-picture.com/images/sample-image.gif"></a>

    Is that what you're after?

You just need to go to the specific product page you want the pic to link to and copy that url. Then make the anchor tag on your website the way DebtFreeMe explained.

The only other thing you need to make sure about is that the url still includes your affiliate id as a passable parameter. Otherwise you won't get credit for the sale.

Yes, o thank god you guys understand. i was scratching my head hard thinking of another way to ask taht question.

i am familiar with anchoring a text or an image to redirect traffic to somewhere else. in this situation, i want them to see a picture of something they are interested on my site. when they click taht picture, it takes them to the 'buy now' page of the site that i am the affiliate to.

the question is: where do i put my affiliate id so i may be credited for the possible sale? i understand that i have to place it in th URL but the URL is long with many numbers letters and symbols. how do i know where to drop my ID so i can get credited for the sale?

Use bit.ly to shorten your huge URLs and at the same time keep track of your clicks. Here is an example:

    Code:
    <a href="your bitl.ly URL" target="_blank"><img source="the URL of your image"></a>
    Hope this helps!

im sorry i do not understand. So you are saying i should shorten that URL using bit.ly? this is my first time hearing this word. i assume its like shrinkmylinkdotcom?

when you say keep track of my click - i do not understand what you mean by this. my strategy is a set it and forget it method. i didnt realize i had to keep track of clicks. is this something that affiliate marketers have to do in these situation?

sorry for all the questions. its one of those days where i ask a question that leads to 10 more questions:)

Yes bitlly just shortens the url so that people can't see the affiliate id, it can also stop others form stealing your sales.

The best way to see what your affiliate id should look like would be to just use one of the links that your program gave to you. Within the url that they make available, you should see a code that identifies you. It is usually like a number in the link.

For instance in the affiliate links for Ebay part of the url code that says campid=12345 where the 12345 is the unique code that Ebay gives to their affiliates.

Each affiliate program usually structures their urls just a bit differently, but the best thing to do is look at an existing url with your code in it to see how the program your with, structures there code.

    Hope that helps.
