HTML and CSS

Hello.
I'm trying to learn HTML5 and CSS2.1

The problem is....there is so much....on the internet.....that I'd like to use one single trusted source for learning proper HTML and CSS coding.

My question.......what is a trusted/authoritative website (or book) that I could use to help me learn HTML5 and CSS2.1?

There isn't a single source to learn HTML and CSS. you have to use google search properly. Lynda.com has a few courses that you can follow. csstricks.com and stackoverflow.com has many problems solved. That's good in terms of resources.

speaking about learning... any trusted source for learning java??

If you want basics I recommend udemy,tuts+ and lynda (search on google) for html5/css there are some interesting video tutorials, plain text tutorials or ebooks . It depends on what you want to do.
After you learn the basics : use github and stackoverflow to find the answer of your different questions .
For java:
If you want to learn how to make android applications i recommend kilobolt(search on google... too lazy to put links). They have some interesting tutorials and teach you how to make your own android game from 0 .
If you want javascript(i guess this is what you want ) try javascript from oreilly ( you will find it on google , if you don't have the money to buy this ebook you can find this ebook of different torrents websites )

LitNit summed it all up, for a start look only one course/book to start with diversify when you have mastered the basics!

I feel that it's very hard to just learn without doing any hands-on/practical training. I myself learned HTML/CSS naturally when I started using Blogger years ago and now switch to Wordpress.

I think when you take this route, it's much easier to learn almost anything. Of course, it may be a little time consuming but you understand what you're doing.

As for your question, I would start off with Lynda, they have some really good tutorials. Good luck!

Couldn't agree more, I always found the easiest way to learn is playing about with pre built code because you can see the effects of any changes you make and it saves the frustration of bug fixing initially when you're starting out.

Once you have mastered the basics you can start more advanced stuff from scratch.

Offtopic ( i can't make a new thread and this topic seems appropiate for my question ) : How someone can monetize this ? I have knowledge about html/css/js/photoshop and somehow i didn't earn much at all from this ( biggest earn from this was 60 $ for a 2 weeks project html/css/js/jquery and a little php)... Can someone give me a good tip on how to start over on this track but on the correct way . I repeat: I have the knowledge but no clients,no project no nothing ...

Start with codecademy, after that go to w3schools and after that go to Mozilla Developer Network.
That should get you a good idea of HTML/CSS.

Do you know how to create Wordpress themes? If you do, you could design and develop them and sell them through Themeforest. I think there's money in there.

Become a web designer? I make my full time living doing that lol. The most important thing I've learnt is that good service yields return customers, and thus more work than one person can deal with. And I love it.

How to monetise it? Find people with a bad website, and offer to redo it for them. Word your pitch right and you have easy money right there.

w3schools does have some good resources but be careful, this particular site has some incorrect information too. Always be sure to cross check when learning from w3schools.

write a tutorial on how to do this! i fix bad code (wp themes) and this would be interesting.

I tried a lot with repairing sites ( but somehow the clients became greedy and they want more and more and more for free or low money unfortunately) . Also i found very lazy clients that didn't want to cooperate me and after the job was finished they wanted me to change 60% of the design ( yeah that bad was )
I didn't try with tutorials but my english writing skill doesn't help me very much and i don't think that my tutorial would be pay/accepted on any site .
I think i'll start to make a minimal landing page design and i'll put on giveaway . I think this should give me a little bump .

I think the world doesn't want me to work as webdesigner seriously . If i find project they will pay me little ( better to give the theme free on internet ), or the client is very difficult and lazy ( the type a guy who become more expert than you or the type of guy who doesn't like anything and want you to change lots of details ) .

LitNit, don't become nervous. Don't forget that you're at a very beginner's level, and thus you're doubting your ability to learn it in a systematic way. You're also afraid because you're simply looking at a much higher professional level (from where you're at present) where hose pros are earning a living out of their skills (which they too have taken much time in life to acquire). Just be a serious student of the skill and love what you do, however small or unimportant the work/study might look to you. Keep doing it better and systematically. Of course, when you're building the skillset you'll also become a thinker and will implement your own ideas and designs into your work. That's when you'll begin to become a PRO. So keep your eyes on your goals, study, and take your time to becoming a professional. Now you're simply looking at the high-flying eagles, from one of their nests as a little fearful and self-doubting baby-eagle who is still unaware that he has "That Capability" too. Grow and become a little more stronger, and do it systematically... Someday you too shall be flying as high, so don't worry!

OP, same goes for you too. Find whatever tutorials and begin practicing in a modular way... there is nothing like The Best on internet. If there is, then it is too expensive. And there are other sites that can be thought of as secondary, but they still can give you all the knowledge you need.
