Welcome to the forum, mate. :) so, have you decided yet what you’re going to venture into in IM?
Not yet but most interested in site flipping. I like the idea of buying existing businesses, adding value, to then resell later. I like this with boring businesses too.

Hey everyone. I am a operations manager for a small business construction company that was just recently bought out. For years I have been on the employee grind, learning lots about management and how businesses are truly run. Now I am ready to invest more into my entrepreneurial journey and kickstart my own venture soon. I joined BHW to learn as much as I can from people far smarter than I am.
Welcome to BHW. What products does your business offer? Enjoy your holiday.

Thank you everyone for the warm introduction. I obviously made the right decision to be a part of BHW. This is going to be awesome!

It's difficult because you have to juggle many hats. But at the same time there isn't too much red tape. I've been able to cut deals AND sign the checks for subcontractors, for example, which is cool in itself. What's also hard is that not everything that arises during the day to day fits into any person's job description, so someone has to take ownership of it.

In some ways I would have benefitted much more from proper training or even a mentor, but I have learned a lot by having to figure things out on my own. There's something special in that; lots of reading and learning by trial and error. I've been amazed by how good a person can get at things they never thought were in their wheelhouse by just doing it over and over and over again.

It's crazy how little AI is used in the construction world. The industry is so stagnant. I'm sure there is so much that could be accomplished by it.
Yep, companies seem to be still stuck in their old ways. But there are startups using AI, maybe you can study the listings on Y combinator. And with your wide experience and previous frustrations, address persistent problems / flaws in the industry.
Best of Luck on your new journey.
