Since SEO has been on everyone's mind lately, I thought It might be fun to take a look at a different approach to increasing blog engagement. How do you acquire and maintain an audience without getting chummy with search engines? Social media, email lists or other ways?

Building an audience would be the best way then. That audience can be on a social media like Instagram or Facebook, it could be from YouTube, it could be from an email list that you built.

And the best part is that, unlike SEO where they can make your site lose all traffic in a single day, this approach is much better and more sustainable.

The future is definitely going to be communities and networks. Build up an audience of people that you can casually talk to, and write content for them.

Purely informational blogs are dying IMO

Great question! By working towards building a strong community (primarily through shareable social media posts and email nurturing) you establish a place of genuine connection that drives engagement and repeat views.

Respond to every comment, message, or email you receive. Engage directly with your readers and they’re more likely to stay engaged and return to your blog.

Listen, observe what your readers are saying, and look for stories in those discussions.

Social media really helps a lot and our blog gets most of its traffic from social. We just keep sharing the blog on all the platforms

Post engaging content on social media.

The best way is to share engaging content and let the engagement come naturally.

You can build an audience without having to suck up a search engine vacuum! Growing your email list is one of the better strategies available: you can connect directly with your readers and give them excellent content.

You can engage your audience through authentic content, building email lists, and fostering community on social media without relying solely on SEO.
