How you guys go about copyright?

Did you know a few pictures,photos used without consent on your website (even if you link back to the author website) can cost you 5 figures and up?
Be it the picture in your blog post, or the picture you use on one of your hundred of fake profiles..
How do you deal with that? You just say f*** it if they'll catch me I'll deal with it later? I know a lot of you do, analyzing on various socials what other are doing.. but.. really?
I understand theres some websites (which I already extensively used these days) give free cc pictures.. but.. with these you can't do much. They're better than nothing.. but.. for ex:
A website about recipes. You barely can find 1 decent picture between 10 recipes you'd like to publish (rewrite and publish on your blog).. whilst you'd need 3+ pictures per recipe.
In this case, to sleep the night (and I mean sleep well.. not that you may wake up with a 6 figure lawsuit).. The only way would be to cook myself and take picture with a high quality camera myself. Yesterday I sent over 50 emails to bloggers with e.g a website about recipes..asking if I could use their photos and or rewrite their recipes in my own words (for the law I literally don't even need to ask if I can rewrite recipes.. but hell I asked this too anyway)... and 90% answered me saying NO.. in caps! and I asked it really, really gently.

So my question once again is.. do you really guys (without a 5 figure monthly budget to hire peoples to do X thing like cook and take pictures all the day plus the other stuff) just risk it?

Remember this is BHW... I use any picture I like without a link back.

Worse case is you get an email asking you to remove the image from your site, but in 10 years of marketing it has only happened to me twice.

That being said if you are using images on a site that is going to rely on search engine traffic, as with content images need to be unique.

Well. I know that's BHW. But maybe it's more important to not go broke for some pictures stealing them than keep high your "bhw flag"..
Anyway it's not true at the worst case you get an email asking to remove the image. That's the best case. (Excluded obviously the case where nothing happens). The worst case is a lawsuit for copyright infrangement for 4 or 5 or 6 figures which you lose 100%.
All comes down to what you're doing. If you have a website about recipes, which starts to get 300k uniques a month, (so a good chance that one of the owners of the pictures, of other blogs, sees it), and you're using 30 pictures per website from 50 different websites.. I think there's a huge chance they'll see it and another good chance someone file a lawsuit.
There's only less chance of it happening if
a) you don't take too many pictures
b) your website doesn't get much traffic at all or atleast before you get a 5+ figure profit to invest in your own pictures and swap out the ones you've stolen..

all comes down to what you're doing but MOSTLY luck..

create a DMCA page on your site stating that you are cooperative with taking down any reported maetrial on your site that you belive is not yours and provide a contact elmail for tat matter

Can you link me where the law says if you do that, you wont receive a lawsuit/you wont lose it/that DMCA page saying so, keep you safe in case of lawsuit?

you can host the picture on some image hosting and embed it to your website this way they won't have a hold on you in case things go sout since you are only linking and not hosting the copyrighted material on your web servers

I tought about it.

But is it legal:
a) to upload to some image hosting pictures of others? is it any different from uploading to your own site?
b) It wont be hard to find out, when you're taking 30 pictures each website from 50 different websites (even using more than few accounts at the image hosting site) that you're doing that just to not host them on your webservers..

I guess by now at the end of this post, thinking about it, that's not legal anyway. I would just go to pinterest or w.e site and link the pictures. Or even go to the website itself hosting the picture I want (his picture..) and iframe it... but ?... I guess it's illegal given you have ads on the site and earning from those.

OP, if you are concerned then just don't do it. There is no protection. If you infringe on some bodies copyright or intellectual property then there can be legal consequences.
Most of the time it doesn't end in court action and the removal of images/works will satisfy the copyright holder but remember all it takes is one person to decide to take real action and you can be in real trouble.
As with all BH activities you need to assess whether the reward outweighs the risk.

Hi, As always the best answer is yours on my threads. Just as I tought. It takes just one person to take legal action and you're in real trouble. And Imho it's far more probably to be sued due to copyright than from big companies for posting useful, engaging articles which contains some affiliate link in between the text.. or 1-2 ads around them which doesn't hurt the company in anyway..enche they could only sue you for creating accounts with fake infos... (Referring to the othe thread about law I posted which you answered to obviously)..

To start out, get those PLR contents or fiverr recipe gigs that has pics and license if you are concerned about legal issues. Or use stock images of food that looks somewhat like your recipe.

If you want good content for free, then, you really don't have much choice but to steal others' contents.
