When something is not too technical this is how I write articles.
Structure the article like this
Tell your audience what you are going to tell them. (opening)
Tell them what you said you are going to tell them. (body)
Tell them what you just told them. (summary)
Figure out your keywords the article will be about.
Go online and find articles about these keywords, and copy a paragraph or so of content for each keyword. If you want a longer article add more keywords or save more source material per keyword to work from. (I use evernote)
Using the 5 keywords, make an outline of the article.
(opening)
Use the main keyword in the first paragraph and briefly mention what the article will be about. Keep it three sentences or so.
(start of body)
Take the first keyword, use the source material you saved for this keyword as inspiration, and write your own paragraph that says essentially the same thing using different words. (I use Article Reviser)
Take the next best keyword for paragraph 2 and do the same.
Repeat for all remaining paragraphs.
Place these paragraphs in the best order that you can to make sense to the reader.
Now write sentences that seqway from one paragraph to the next.
(end of body)
(summary)
In the last paragraph, restate the main keyword points expressed in the article.
Use heading tags in the article as designed for SEO, not to control font size.
Remember your audience, a geek will see a page on one million words load up and say "look at all that information", and dive right in. Some people will see an article with 2 long paragraphs and say "I'm not reading all that crap".
If you have read any of my posts you will see that I seldom use 3 words when 10 will do. That is fine for a techie or academic crowd, but terrible for John Q Public.
Keep your chunks of text the right size for your audience.
If you are smart, you will have it proofread for a Grammar Nazi.
