How would you use forums for promoting music ?

Would it make sense ot use fake forum accounts and indirectly promote an artist, like post in big threads having that particular artist newest project as your avatar and quoting song lyrics in your signature.

Or would be directly saying hey check my music out be better.

Or even paying popular forum members that are very active to talk about you to generate interest ?


How would you use internet forums to for music promotion ?

I think you should get some good posts on the forum, and then in a new thread say something like "check out this musician" or "anyone else like this music?".

Post on forums that have a related topic and then bring yourself up in conversation. You could either do it as yourself or as another person saying hey you have to check this guy out. He is amazing.

like he said, make sure your in the right forum for what type of music.. understand their are millions of artists on forums trying to make names for themselves... Saying "check this dude out hes awesome" might only work if you have already built a good reputation in that community.. If you have features with any artists that the people might recognize, use those records in conjunction with your others music to intrigue people..

Great idea to bring up a feature to have them recognize a name.

Also I should create the accounts now so they're not freshly made acconuts looking obviously fake.

So yeah go for the hot topic, be smart abotu it ect.

And I'll def find the right forums for the type of music.
