So my buddy and I just completed a website about a really scary thing that happened over here in Homestead, FL a couple of years ago,... and the website is bascially info on the case, etc..

how would you monetize a site like that if its getting say... 50 k - 100 k visitors a month?

Thanks!

I do remember a well-converting site that offered an Aff. program for brain-wave audio mp3s with a paranormal - type theme. I wish I could remember the address... :(
Here's a CB ghost-hunting guide paying 7.50 / sale.

This has actually been a good adsense niche for me. Then you throw in a few psychic ad links as well as a MOST HAUNTED PARANORMAL affiliate link and make some money

The thing is with content like that it can make your site seem less legitimate the more you monetize it... I would stick with adsense or adbrite and a couple of CPA offers and stay away from the dating sites if you want to retain your audience.

If you're feeling really ambitious, you could put together a very simple documentary and sell digital downloads and DVD copies.

Great advise you guys!

I mean, with 100k visitors a month, income from Adsense could be good.

Also, i think i AM going to put together a documentary, ill just pay some kids at the local film university to do it for me... and then i could put a banner on the side promoting it, people could buy it for 12.99 and have it as an instant download in MPG or MOV format.... So that way you have 2 ways of monetizing it, Adsense and the documentary.

In your opinion, (ive never tried adsense, or adbrite, nor text link ads) which one pays better? Ive heard good things about text link ads, but ive heard they are punished by google.... But i can't give 2 shits about SEO, the traffic is coming from Youtube and Metacafe. So whatcha think? Adbrite, Adsesne or Text link ads?

Thank you for the replies, :)

I'd like to signup at BigFishGames PNP and advertise their scary hidden object games (such as Ravenhearst).
BFG Games convert really well.

did you know that there are "ghost detector" for sale on the net?!? try selling these!

Amazon products epically ghost hunter dvd's and magazine do really well. They also have evp, thermal cams and anything else you can think of

Do you guys think that by selling the documentary in MOV or MPEG format for 2 dollars would achieve higher sales volume?

The site has 70-100k visitors a month... if at least 5 thousand bought the documentary, thats 10 thousand right there....

what do you think?

You could try posting an ad on Crai*gs*Li*st but it would probably get "ghosted".

Sorry, I couldn't help it.

I think you could probably sell it for more. Try $9.99. Remember that the more you seem to value the documentary, the more your customers will too. I'd offer it in multiple formats and maybe even a few different levels of compression for streaming for customers with different connection speeds.

Also, make sure to post a quick trailer to bring the customers in.

Scary movies via Amazon or something would prolly sell. You may even want to throw up some standard CPA "free product" email submits and see what bites.

Why don't you take a look at similar sites and see what they are selling?
