I have about 20,000 unique visits per month going to one of my sites. It's a site providing just information(articles, videos, has a forum that isn't very active yet.)

All the traffic is organic coming from Google.

What would be the best way to monetize this in your opinion and why?

It depends what kind of blog do you have , and the most important part is where your traffic coming from . If its like eastern Europe its useless for cpa.
I would use cpa , with or without content lock.

It's mainly US traffic... This website is kind of a type that people come back to check updates on a regular basis as well so do you think a content locker would be a negative to them and make them stop coming back?

You could try adsense, you could try CPA, you could sell banner space, you could create your own product and promote it. split test many different ways and see what converts the best, thats what i'd do.

You actually have two options Google AdSense and cpa . Also you could make your visitors leave their emails and then you can create a targeted list. You have pretty nice traffic and its US traffic.

Yes your point is valid if you will use a content locker then it will be annoying and will decrease your audience. So better way is go for adsense.

Thanks for all the replies.. I've put some adsense on my website and it's bringing in a decent amount of money. Nothing I can live off of but something. I'm still looking for different ways to monetize this website so if anyone has ideas that would be greatly appreciated!

My goal is to be able to quit my 9-5 and live off of internet marketing by the end of summer!

I would pop an Aweber email collection box over the top of the site on the first page load using Fancybox. Make a simple ebook and offer it in return for signing up to your list. Set up a series of autoresponder messages and sell niche affiliate products to your list.

Set a cookie after the first page load so the email collection box doesn't pop on every page load.

CPA and CPM to round the profits. Also AdSense could blend well with this recipe and the ubiquitous email capture overlay that's always handy.
