How would you monetize misspelled domain name?

I have a non-trademarked misspelled EMD and based on google the misspelling is searched about 25% of the time (vs the proper one) which is why I bought it in the first place. Also google does not auto-correct since that keyword is also the name of a music band.

How would you guys go about developping this for SEO (I was thinking amazon store)? Would you use the misspelling in your on-site articles? in <H1> only? In all tags? For off-site it's easy since I can use both interchangeably.

Anyone have any experience doing this?

PS: I also own the correctly spelled domain, but I'd rather rank well for the misspell than re-direct to a mirror site and confuse people I think.

I would use it as part of the traffic funnel; and redirect it to your main site for the instant 25% increase in traffic.

Unless the misspelling has a following of its own, the misspellers are actually looking for your money site. You should make this easy for them to find, not build up another site, to compete with yourself.

In fact if you can find 4 such keywords, you can double your money site traffic in an instant.

Would I still rank the misspelled domain in google with a simple redirect if I have no misspelled content to index?

Ah, didn't think about that part, no you will simply pull traffic from the misspelled URL.

Perhaps it would be better to build it up on its own, until it was ranking, then redirect.

I know that there are many options, but for me, I redirect to my affiliate link for the site. If they do not have one, I redirect to a related item or product using my Amazon.com affiliate link.

I'm not sure how much other methods make, but I can easily make $50-$100/month off this.

Make it look something like the correctly spelled website and place your affiliate link there.

Make a copy of the website and phish the users? Jk, jk

What Taktical said would probably make you the most if viable... would piss off the original site owners though. Redirects to your own stuff from a SEO optimized landing page of some kind are probably better as far as intellectual property rights go, rather than ripping off their content.

I would probably just park the domain and collect money that way if it receives a lot of traffic
