    Hi,

I was wondering if any of you had any awesome tips for how to get a social network/facebook app to grow in size. I don't have one, but I've always considered it as I have a lot of twists that I do not believe are offered by many social networks.

Any idea is appreciated however wild it may be. What I thought of so far is:

    - blast it through scrapebox to a lot of people
    - get facebook shout outs as well as tweets on fiverr
    - get hot videos with water print on them and upload them on youtube
    - facebook posting
    - try contacting people with a lot of subscribers on youtube and get them to make a review for some money
    - promote on cam sites like cam4.com (NSFW)
    - get microworkers to sign up and like it as well as share it
    - set up a contest and get people to share a status update or a picture
    - blast forum posts with xrumer.
    - youtube comments

As I said, it's just an idea and not possible at the moment as I guess it's quite costly to set up.

I'd want to offer them some incentive to also recruit others but not too sure if you can still give them some virtual coins when they invite others..

It's not a matter of what to do... I think you know already. It's a question of scale. And none of us likely know that answer for sure. But a lot I imagine.

Yea well that's quite obvious that scale matters but I'm thinking about what else can be done at a reasonable cost.. I thing SEO would be less effective as its a fairly saturated market

you need to think about something revolutionary which is not on FB/twitter yet and people would die for it, create an answer to their nonexistent needs and convince them that's what they always needed and would make their life full from that point, this "something" should be good enough to motivate people commit the change, the transition should be as smooth as it can with things like one-click import of all FB friends

all you listed above is useless if you want to make an 1:1 copy of FB, you either need to offer more or something completely different

what will be that little something? that's when you and your idea comes into the picture :)

You're probably correct. It'd have to be a really innovative twist to get ANY traction in the market as it is today.
