Hello everyone!

I’ve been running a PBN on Easy Blog Networks for a few years. Currently, I have 700+ domains, mostly in the 0-25 DR range.

The Current State:
  • All original content was wiped years ago.
  • Existing RDs range from 0 to 300+.
  • Current Use: Pure link-building (approx. 400+ client links/month via Make.com). I’ve been niche-agnostic, meaning a finance site might have linked to a plumber.
  • Appearance: They look like typical thin PBNs. Unstructured and "ugly".
The 2026 Goal:I want to pivot to a Hybrid Model. I want these sites to drive real organic impressions and traffic to make them "future-proof". I intend to keep using them for client links, but as a secondary function to their primary role as niche-authorities.

The Plan:
  1. Centralized Management: Use MainWP for network-wide control.
  2. Tech Stack: GeneratePress + GenerateBlocks (aiming for 90+ Core Web Vitals).
  3. Dynamic Templates: Using ACF to create "Editorial-style" posts (Summary, Key Takeaways, Expert Insights, FAQs) to move away from the "wall of text" look.
  4. Advanced Automation: A Make.com workflow using DataForSEO for keyword research (targeting low-KD long-tails) and RankMath for on-page optimization.
My Concerns & Questions:
  • The Content Mix: What’s the ideal ratio between "traffic-generating pillar content" and "client link posts" to maintain authority?
  • Footprints: If I use the same ACF structure and Theme on 700 sites, am I asking for a manual penalty? How do you guys vary the "technical footprint" (CSS, field names, plugin lists) at this scale?
  • MainWP + Make.com: Is anyone successfully pushing complex ACF data through MainWP's API to child sites, or should I connect to each site's WP REST API individually via a central database?
  • Niche Rehabilitation: What’s the best way to "reset" a site’s topical relevance after years of niche-agnostic linking?
  • Tier 2 Links: I’ve tested sending links from a separate network to these domains to "wake them up". Is this still viable in 2026, or is it an unnecessary risk for a Tier 1 network?
How would you improve an existing PBN today? Have you successfully turned a "link farm" into a traffic-driving asset?

Cheers!

There isn't an ideal ratio really, and it will be heavily niche dependent anyway. Of course to look more 'legit' it will be fewer posts where the intention is just to give an outbound link.

Doubt it'd be a manual penalty (unless you're being far too successful ;) ) but the footprint of Generatepress etc is pretty easy to pick up algorithmically. You can try some of the 'HideMyWP' style plugins for removing WP footprints.

  • Niche Rehabilitation: What’s the best way to "reset" a site’s topical relevance after years of niche-agnostic linking?
Floods of relevant content.

  • Tier 2 Links: I’ve tested sending links from a separate network to these domains to "wake them up". Is this still viable in 2026, or is it an unnecessary risk for a Tier 1 network?
Branding links and profile links to author pages seems to work best for this sort of thing in my tests with expired domains. At least until you start to see some traction in the SERPs for longtails.

honestly, the pivot makes sense, but I’d keep expectations realistic. turning a pure pbn into “real” sites works only if you slow way down and let them breathe. I’d do 70–80% legit niche content, 20–30% client links max, and stop niche mixing completely.

biggest risk isn’t ACF or MainWP, it’s patterns. same theme + same layouts across 700 sites is asking for trouble, so at least rotate themes, block styles, plugins, and publishing velocity. rehabilitating niches takes months, not weeks start by killing off topic links and publishing consistent topical content before adding new money links.

Hybrid PBN is a good approach. Content ratio: 70% pillar, 30% client links. Vary theme/ACF slightly to reduce footprints. Add fresh niche-specific content and remove old irrelevant links. Tier 2 links still work but use carefully. Focus on quality and diversity.
