How would you go about ranking an image site?

This is great advice I actually have a FB page that’s growing on a passive even though I don’t post anymore so I’ll definitely be using that. Are backlinks important in this too? And if so do I link to the picture or the main site?

If your site is heavily depended on images as content, make sure you fill up the ALT text and description of each image. It is the best way to tell Google what the image is about and rank it properly on Google Images
So many website lacking on this, making it easy to rank on Google Images which has a decent traffic. Sometimes people want to browse images and not sites results.

If it's a sub-niche like, say Libertarian memes, it would help a lot if you do outreach to libertarian bloggers to link to you
