    Hello,

I'm currently waiting emails from couple places and I would like to speed up the process while learning.

As I understand I have two choices.

-I can hire someone to fix the problems (which could be expensive in the long run)

-I can learn to code and find the problem and fix it manually. I've done html/css and currently learning Java/PHP.

I'd rather do the second one.

Main problems I've faced are simple things like: featured image too big, can't add products to cart or the design just sucks.

I did google search and found ton of development tools. I wonder if these tools show you the code errors or if they make it much easier to locate where the problem is?

If anyone could recommend a code developing tool for Wordpress? I would really appreciate it.

just change your theme around. Doing website design is a completely different job from internet marketing. If you want to be a web designer, then go for it, otherwise do what most of us, even with web design experience have, and that's compromise.

Most Wordpress issues have usually been experienced by other people and can resolved by doing a google search/yt video etc
I wouldn't waste time on dev tools unless you want to become a Theme/Plugin developer.

You should also put value to your own time and think how much you could earn using your existing skills while tweaking hours and hours some small design issues which some professional would solve within minutes. Unless you are not going to do programming as full time job its more efficient to pay someone.

Good advice. Sometimes it helps to change the theme.

Coding is just something I always wanted to learn to be able to fix small errors when I found a very attractive theme.
I also have couple premium themes which I want to be able to modify a bit.

I just don't tend to find the specific answers from google/yt. Other places I look for answers are wp forums, plugin support or theme support. It just tends to be a 1-2 week mailing back and forth and then theres more and more problems. So I'm willing to spend a lot of time into this as I will be working with it a lot in the future. Won't mind creating a couple themes in the future.

That's what I thought. I hired two guys for two project with a small price mark and they tend to try do some "extra" or find more probems or say it's not possible without extra cost.

And I rather learn and save some pocket money.

Yes. That's right. Time is money. I just want to learn how to fix the small errors so in future websites I know how to fix the errors quickly or if a friend of mine ask I can help them.

I also believe it's a valuable skill to learn.

If you can log in to the backend of wordpress and make sense of it then do it that way, if you can't then you should hire someone - there is no point investing all of your time learning to do development just to solve a small problem that is holding you back on your main path (Which I assume is SEO).

If you done that every time you hit a road block then you would never get anywhere.

There is a good saying that if you are a jack of all trades then you are a master of none and that is probably applicable here.

Then you need to learn the following:
    PHP
    HTML
    CSS
    Javascript
    XML
    MySQL

Very good points davids355. I'm spending my time into various of different projects. I won't mind spending a hour a day into programming for a year to get a basic understanding of it. So long it's been fun to learn and I'm enjoying it.

I do believe outsourcing is the way to get things done.

But I've learned that the more I know the better ideas I get. And I believe that If I want to outsource something big I should have a basic understanding of it.

I've never mastered anything mate. I'm good at everything, but not a master of anything.
I tend to use this quote quite often: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime"

In that case I may be able to help you for free. You can ask me questions over skype or can have a skype call ones in 2/3 (depending upon my schedule). However I expect you to know at least basic of HTML / CSS / JS.
