Hi, I have a deal worked out with a contractor that does full renovations. I am having trouble figuring out where I could find leads outside of Craigslist and other classifieds. Also, how can I set it up so that I can monitor the leads he gets as a result of my marketing efforts? I like the pizza box idea especially in their area of business. Any other ideas guys?

SEO and PPC is your best bet. This forum has boards dedicated to the two and you will find all the information you need if you look around in the SEO or PPC sections.

I have done work for a contractor before, best thing to do is see if your city/county has a homes s old report or search. Then h ire some college kids to knock on doors of new property owners and see if they have any work they want done. Print off a fake employee ID and laminate it for them, then put em on commission for every job they find.

The main target is buildings that need to be renovated. They have a 2mil contract right now where they are converting a factory into condos. So if I can find buildings that would need renovation than it would be a score.

    I'll share my method.

Make sure you have a website for your contractor.

    Start a free vflyer account.

Send out 4-5 craigslist ads per day in the varous cities they serve

Make a youtube video of a remodel in progress.

Properties, and homeowners will find you. PPc is nice, try to get 3-5 yelp reviews a week- make sure your google places is up too par. Not too hard.

Adwords seems to be the quickest and more guaranteed if you have a decent site and target your city

set up a landing page owned by you to try and capture email enquiries, but also put a unique phone number on there (also owned by you) that either goes to a call answering service so you can collect the telephone numbers and send them to your client or at the very least, if you cant afford call answering, have your unique phone number forward calls to your clients number so that you can at least get a print out of how many calls have been forwarded per week/month & if your client isnt closing as many as you think he should, take the website away and rent it to another contractor who you can show traffic figures to (from your call forwarding stats).

if you choose the latter option, tell callers to mention a specific reference number from your website such as "REF: 7599" when making the call and make sure that your client is asking callers if they have a reference number (from your website). again, if you know from your stats that 100 calls have been forwarded to your client but he tells you that hes only had 20 or 30 or whatever, then you sack him for that offence as well because hes clearly not monitoring (or VALUEING) what youre doing for him.

Go get a free google voice number, and forward it to his number. You will have a record through google of all the numbers that come in. I would make sure you get recurring commissions, since if these people use him they will be giving him continual work. Make a direct mail piece that you will send out to investors who are buying all cash, which you can find from a place like listsource. You can also get lists of the people who own multifamily units and commercial buildings and mail to them. What are the benefits of using him over some other contractor? You could call a few investors on craigslist and ask them what their complaints about contractors are, and what their perfect renovation contractor would be willing and able to do. Find some USP that will convince them to use your guy. Maybe he can get some discounts on materials or order things with a checklist or online in a way that saves people trips to the home stores, but also doesn't mark up the price.
