How would you beat a site with this link profile if you were starting a site from scratch? Obviously I'm gonna need a lot of links and a lot of time but what strategy would you advise?

Hm man can you tell me how you got that data?

What backlink spy tool you use?

Thanks.

WOW thats gonna be tough. We need more info though. Are you planning to use any automated tools? if so which ones do you have?

Wow that is tough there is so much external backlinks, I think you should get your backlinks up, either by buying it or pay someone to seo your site.

Whatever you do, don't rush into it and get your site penalized.

Its possible. but it will take a lonnnnnnnnnnng time :)
Yeah its a good saying. You shouldn't be so fast to do this. just gradually increase your campaigning.
check his anchors. Avoid his main keywords. work for those for which he is not at a good position.

Yeah that was from majestic. He has a ton of backlinks. I'm gonna need A LOT of steady backlinks over time.

How would you guys do that and what tools would you use?

I guess you already have Majestic, so first thing I'd do is look where he's getting his from and see if you can get some of those too. At the same time look at aspects of his site where he might be vulnerable, like page speed, on-page SEO, social signals etc. That's what I'm currently doing with one of mine. SEOQuake is handy for a quick look at things like that.

How long would you estimate?

I'm going to outsource the offsite SEO.
