basically ive had a website for the past three months been doing all the basic seo work for it

i got it ranked on to the 1st page of g00gle yah00 b!ng and askj33ves but around the 5-7th spot

ive been trying to get it to go higher but just cant it has now started slipping back down on google it now switches between last on 1st page and 1st on 2nd page

basically i was going to puchase a few different backlink services for my site

one involves 40k backlinks straight to my website

the other involves 100.edu backlinks

and finally another 40k backlinks from a different service to the 1st

so total of 80k baclinks from .com ect
and 100 .edu's

considering most my seo has been manually so far do you think having these services would benefit my site and rank it higher

or have a negative affect

Thanks in advance

I don't think 40k links straight to your website is a good idea, although some ppl on here will argue with me that it still works, I still prefer quality links over quantity. I also think .edu links are overrated as it will depends where you get your .edu links and what type of edu links those are ...

It will dance like crazy for few weeks/months and then come back stronger. The important thing to remember is that you should keep adding links after that 40k comes to you.

One key thing to watch, that hasn't been mentioned is 'over-optimisation' - and it's the mistake most newbs make with volume link-building.

If you're already experiencing some Google dance, then Black Hat will only worsen this bounce:

1) Ensure that your pages are not over-optimised for your keywords. See backlinkbanzai.com/SEOBasics.php (about half-2/3rds of the way down) for more info.
2) Ensure you're not using all keyword anchors on volume building. I would always put AT LEAST 50% of my anchors as domain/URL/click here/brand anchors etc. i.e. mix them up. Even 100-1,000 links - all with exactly the same anchor is gonna look dead fishy. And this is where SO many newbs screw up, and blame the volume, rather than the strategy used.
3) Link DEEP. Spread 50% of your links throughout your site. 'Site links' vs 'Page links' are an important ratio, and too many to a home/single page is a sure-fire sign of SEO manipulation
4) EXPECT some position dance. When it gets unstable, try backing-off for a while and letting it settle; other times you have to push-on through - it's impossible to know. But build gradually and consistently.
