How would I rank this video?

Without revealing too much information, let's just say 5 channels on YouTube uploaded the same exact video type with the same title on the same day. My competition gets more views than me, so they rank higher by default. How would I be able to overtake them?

There are a lot of variables that determine how YT videos rank, some of the many factors include the amount of subscribers the channel has, the amount of views the video has and the amount of time users are spending watching the video. If I were you, I'd purchase some high retention YT views here on the marketplace, send some "thumbs ups" and a few comments and see if it helps.

I thought of that as well but I'd like to stay away from that because its my personal business channel. But the difference in views is my 200 vs their 10000. Would building links to it help long term ranking? And what kind of links if so

Sure, you could build links to your video(s), build some high quality Web 2.0's with some T2 links and you should see some movement (Assuming these videos are not in "highly competitive" niches). While I'm not a huge YT guy, I have done some work with YT in the past and this is how I usually ranked my videos.

If the niche is legit as you say, you can't do much

They are getting those views and ranks beacause of subscribers and channel authority, you can get better results with blackhat methods but it's a risk

Its usual. Channels having many visitors already. But we can defeat them by posting interesting news with mention your name in video that would be like by the people.

I would suggest that you begin posting your youtube video all across the internet including forums and in blog comments to create outside sources and linkbacks
