I am in a taxi.

The driver speaks the local language which i don't understand.

It is too late to say that I don't understand, he has been talking for a while now. He thinks im rude to look at my phone while he is talking, im uncomfortable af.

That sums up my 2021. How was yours?

Lonely...

I focused all my efforts on my side business and work, isolated myself a lot due to covid, almost didn't see anyone.

My girlfriend who live in Asia and I broke up after 5 years of relation.

It was a shitty year despite the good laughs at the office and some gaming with friends who made the year a little bit more bearable.

I would not have to live another 2021 again personally.

It also makes me rethink how I will spend my 2022. :)

Such a roller coaster experience. I realized how fast our lives move on without our attention

  • Spent far too much money buying websites in niches I've no business being in.
  • Spent far too much time flipping NFTs.
  • Spent far too much time climbing rocks.
  • Met a girl. Typing this from her desk now.
  • Lost six figures in a single day. That was interesting.
  • Visited my hometown in Ireland for the first time in a decade.
  • Visited London for the first time in decades. Still don't understand how anyone lives there.
Wasn't a bad year.

Happy new year everyone.

Lol, love that quote about London, that's definitely exactly how I feel about the city :D.

My 2021:
  • Felt great on about 150 days, normal on about 180 days, and extremely down/depressed for more or less 30 days.
  • Ran 1,300 km in the mountains, cycled 1,440 km on trails, and did another 467 km on cross country skis. Probably hiked about 1,500 km as well, but I do not track hiking on GPS device.
  • Was enrolled in five long distance running competitions, but took part only in one. The rest were either cancelled due to pandemic, or I was banned from participation as an unvaccinated person...
  • Made one longer trip abroad (for 50 days more or less), which was the best part of the year for sure, but didn't end up the way I hoped it would. Still loved it :).
  • Read about 25-30 books, most were good but some were also a waste of time. Used to read more, but got a new hobby this year that took my time away from books.
  • Two of the closest people to me experienced big changes in their lives. One got married, another one had his first child born, which he and his wife decided to name after me. That was very humbling...
  • From people I knew in person, 2 died of covid, and 2 died of heart attack some time after taking the vaccine (they have never before had any heart issues).
  • Didn't do badly in IM, which is well documented on BHW so no need to elaborate on that one.

Wasn't a bad year, but 2022 here we come!!

Well, since everyone is sharing their struggles...

My 2021 finished with a last call on the forum. Definitely going hard over here.

Jan 2021:
broke, no job, at my parents place because broke, a bit depressed

Dec 2021:
freelancing and getting paid the same hourly rate as a doctor
living in a foreign country with my gf
working out 5-6 times a week (did through out all the year)
learnt to schedule my time, get things done
start building digital assets

Still unsatisfied because i keep comparing myself with multi millionaires and feeling shit daily
But if i weren't that cruel with myself, I'd say i made a huge huge amount of progresses in my life

All is good but why is a doctor living in a foreign country with your GF?

I miss you a lot, and we should talk sometime. My dad is still kicking at 86, and I am starting another business, so I feel good about that. I have to also take care of myself better by giving myself some time off and practicing listening more and speaking less. I hope you are doing well and wish you a great and memorable New Year!!
