How valuable are sub domain backlinks

I had a quick google before opening this thread and had a quick look on BHW but found no information on the subject. I was actually surprised how little information there is.

What im wondering is how valuable a link from a sub domain is. If I had a totally unique website on a sub domain and a unique site on a main domain would the backlinks be valued the same? would google count the sub domain link the same as a TLD link?. I imagine it would be more valuable then a sub link on the main site but I dont know for sure.

Any thoughts and experience would be appreciated.

Sub-domain or not, who cares! There are other factors that determine the value of a link that are of far greater importance. Factors such as pagerank, domain authority, page authority and now days the relevance of the pages is very important as well.

All factors been equal - will a link from a subdomain be more valuable than a non-subdomain... I do not think so!

bump. main reason im asking is some people build multiple TLD websites for the links and then slowly build them as a part of a good quality pyramid. Im thinking if sub domains work it could be pretty much the same.

Im pretty sure they are counted as the same. That comes from a matt cu*nts video I saw a few weeks back where he mentioned about links from sub domains being counted as one. Check out webmaster tools videos.
