How to win a PayPal dispute? [Virtual Item]

Hi,

there has been a solid thread on this topic before, but I simply can't find it anymore. So I will ask this question again.

I am in the process of buying a virtual item with paypal. Since there is a risk of not getting the item after paying the seller and paypal only protecting tangible items, I would like to know what the best way would be to win a dispute even though its a virtual item.

Varkom is right. In the case of Paypal, if you buy it with your debit card/credit card, you can issue the chargeback through your bank. Paypal will try to fight this chargeback, but since the product is virtual it will be difficult for Paypal to win.

You mean directly with a CC or the CC attached to my Paypal?
If first, then this is not an option for me...

Directly with a CC since the money would come out of your bank account (thus getting the bank involved).

So this basically means that I have to keep my balance at 0$, so that it charges my debit card ?

Even if you have balance in your account you can still pay using a CC.

When you purchase something with paypal, there will be an option to change form of payment. From there you can choose your CC.
 
Is there anything "special" that I need to write in the description box? I believe stating that it is a virtual item would be fatal

just curious to know are you buying something from BHW? or just how expensive is this item (even price range is fine).

No, it's not from BHW. A direct sale from a private person
 
Out of interest, how would that work for the seller - would paypal take the money back off of seller if the buyers bank done a charge back?

that would be the default, if there are no enough funds on the seller, paypal needs to cover it from its own pocket, seller gets a neg balance
 
If you are opening a dispute case be sure not to "mention" that you bought virtual goods because you will lose that case 100% but you always can say that you didnt bought anything - so far open case for unauthorized payment and when its virtual goods it will be hard to prove for that seller if he scams that he sold you something and if he cant prove so that means it was unauthorized payment and they will give you your money back, and so far as I know guys who opens "unauthorized" cases wins ;)
