Okay, First off I'd like to say that I am a beginner with SEO/IM/MMO. Anyway, now that we have that out of the way. I currently have 2 twitter accounts.

    One with 800 followers.
    One with 500 followers.

I'm not sure if this is a good amount but I spent maybe an hour or two clicking "follow". Eventually I hit the daily limit.

I was wondering how does twitter help with SEO? Is it only used primarily for traffic? Can it increase your page rank?

    What do you do?

Do you just spam your website and hit the "tweet" button.

    Thanks,
    Ken

Twitter is a waste for seo! in my humble opinion.

If you want to make money target peoples demographics and offer them things they might want.

Well I'm not trying to sell products or anything.

All I need is for my keyword to rank 1/page 1 on Google. Can twitter contribute to this process or..

I would just use those accounts to drive traffic to your site (provided it's a niche in which the majority of the followers are interested). Tweet all of your new blog posts on both accounts, as well.

Start with the stickies in this section - it's good to begin with the basics and then pick up the fragments of information and details as you further your understanding of the founding principles. You can't just 'have a quick look', though. Delve into the actual SEO process, learn the commonly practiced tactics, and most importantly, adapt them to your surroundings. Follow links from one thread to another. Eventually, you'll understand what everyone means in calling this forum 'a wealth of information'.
