How to use proxy for firefox?

You just go into Options > Advanced > Network > Connection Settings Button, Change to Manual Configuration and put in the proxy details - IP and Port number in the corresponding boxes.
Always works when I do it that way, unless the proxy is dead.

I assume you are being sarcastic, but in case not: Charon is an old-school proxy checker program.
Firefox should have some kind of addon which can provide you with quick proxy switching. For example on Chrome, I have Proxy SwitchySharp. Search along the lines of Proxy Selector or Proxy Switcher.

Charon is a good program, used to use it all the time, not so much these days. People generally think thats why I chose my name, but it isn't...took it straight from the mythology ~|ChaRoN|~
