Yeah PR is quite irrelevant to ranking these days. YOu are probably better off ignoring the PR of your site / page and just concentrate on the site itself and its backlinks.
If you have qaulity content and some decent quality links (growing link numbers over time) you should see some improvement.
The more backlinks you got, the higher will your PR be. If the linking sites have high PR => even better. But PR is not a very important rankingfaktor anymore.
There are a lot of high PR AA lists around. Try them of a start.
Don't forget to push much more low PR links to your site than high PR ones. Otherwise it would look unnatural.
