Google introduces “time travel” feature: Know how to use it

Google added a time machine feature to Street View, which lets you take a virtual trip down memory lane to see how locations have changed over the years.

This tool works like time travel, showing old images of streets, buildings and cities.

How It Works

To use this feature, open Google Maps or Google Earth and search for a location.
Then, go to the layers option and select “time lapse.” You can see how a place looked years ago and compare it with today.

What You Can See

Google’s Time Travel feature allows users to explore major cities like Berlin, London and Paris, with images dating back to 1930. This helps people understand how places have changed over time.

Street View Update

Google has also improved Street View by adding new photos taken by cars and trackers. With over 280 billion images, users can now explore locations in more detail and enjoy a better virtual travel experience.

This feature isn’t exactly new—at least the aerial version. Google Earth has allowed viewing historical imagery for years, and Street View had a time slider since around 2014. Maybe it’s just more accessible now, but it’s definitely been around for a while.
