Hello, I have a cpa/pay per call offer that is targeted towards elderly that need medical alert systems such as Monitors in case they fall will alert local emergency services, things of that nature. I have been using adwords for certain things lately but its a bit expensive. Does anyone know of any ways to find leads or lists of people who would be in need of such things. And do you think a direct mail approach would work in this type of niche. Any feedback would be appreciated.

The question is how would you reach your target market?

Do they visit youtube and facebook? Does it make sense to create ads on those platforms?

Personally I'd say take out a half page/full page ad in a magazine that specifically targets that age group and see.

Elderly people are hard as nails and would'nt be interested in buying anything sensible that could save their lives. Your target market is offspring who are worried about their folks falling down the stairs or getting up on the roof to remove the moss as old people are prone to doing !

forums for nursing, carers, nursing home costs and reviews etc.

Depends on the demographics and income but you could also try telemarketing or cold calling

You are targeting the wrong people. The real target for that offer is affluent people who have elderly relatives with health conditions.

You need to target the middle aged professionals making $80,000 a year or more who visit sites for elderly diseases and conditions, and elder care. They will be there searching for ways to help their loved ones.

I would imagine media buys on these sites will pay off as well as anything. Solo ads too, if you can find the right list.

If you market to the elderly, you force them to admit their dependence on others. Hard sell.

If you target their family members, you are helping them keep their loved one safe. Much easier sell.

I would try Bing ads. Old people love Bing :p. Conversion rate is supposed to be awesome as well. I am going to be giving its PPC a shot in a little while because I've heard good things. Obviously isn't going to be as many clicks as AdWords but ROI should make up for it.

Oh just thought of another, graveyards. OK here is the plan of action. Go to your local cemetery and look for graves with just one person in, an old person who has a wife or husband still alive, then put a flyer on their grave. This would work particularly well at Christmas, as old people are well know for going to the cemetery on Christmas day. You want old people, you just have to think outside the box, or inside the box.

I owned an affiliate site for elderly once and I can tell you it was one of the, if not the hardest market I've been in.

As people mentioned here before, flyering in places that those people come to works out (not the best, it's a start).

You must know, those elderly mostly live in special homes, and guess what?! They give computer/internet lessons in almost all of those homes. Try to get in touch with the owner and set up a nice landing page with links related to their course.

So in short, your site will be set as the starting page of the browsers in the elderly homes and will serve as a 'panel' with usefull links, also make sure you become in touch with the course-givers so you can add course-related links to the page.

Now this works like a charm and you get decent clicks (of course you implement your aff. links on the starting page). BUT...

Those old people, have a VERY hard time checking out it seems. They have 99% for sure no paypal, and will not set it up for buying one thing, so get that out of your mind.

The only thing I was eventually able to make money with is sitting down with companies who sell hearing-machines and alarmsystems to advertise. I have tried to expand this idea in more areas but the income is still very little compared to the energy it needs. There are better markets to be hit with this technique, like for instance handicapped (young) people who might actually enjoy buying things online and don't mind making a paypal account for example.

Alot of good ideas people have posted here, my suggestion is to try all these methods at the same time if possible.

Find a large retirement home and figure out how they number their mailboxes. Either take a picture of the mailroom with your phone or memorize the pattern/range. You should be able to figure this out online for many of them. Then just mass mail.

You are right - Older people have heard all the advertised BS before, the great warrantees that do not exist and the government lies and phony promises of great things to come - So yes they are hard as nails because they have learned the hard way.
