How come people spend so much time in footprint analysis and wondering if Google spent the time of writing an algorithm when all they had to do was buy a bunch of links then just de-index all the links on the report? If you can buy links of a network that is the footprint right there, no only that it immediately gives a list of every company actively buying links on those networks.

This is what I am thinking, which is why I would never use a public network. It just seems to easy for an employee to go on a link buying spree and penalizing those domains. It might be more tedious than implementing an algorithm, but it sure is laser targeted and will probably scare people enough to stop selling links.

Yes it's a big problem. The only way to do not have footprints is build sites for your personal backlink use or get natural link writing trusted and quality contents.
However, these discussions are seen these days but the problem is born a long time ago. The truth is that you have to calculate the risks before doing all this things.

Not only does Google buy stuff from the BST's, some sellers use Gmail and analytics in their panels and he URL has your url in there as a parameter.

The world's most infamous black hat link provider uses google analytics and other trackers and your url is a parameter in their url. It's as simple as Catt Mutts sitting in front of one of his several terminals, stare at photos of muscular men in the desktop wallpaper, then ban all your sites.

Never use gmail for blackhat stuff. Google crawls that almost instantly.

You can use it in moderation to index links though!

Yes, plenty of shortcuts available to hunt down such links.

For them it would be a waste of time doing that, that way they would get perhaps 0.0001% of all the PBN's there is. It's better to spend their time analyzing footprints associated with PBNs. To me it's mind boggling that they haven't cracked down on same profile name users on registrars. And there are hundred more things that are widely know, yet they do nothing about them.

I think that is because they don't really want to, to have all that stuff analyzed for billions of websites that is a huge cost and Google is a business, so what they do, is they have Google scaryhat hangouts with cool kid John Mueller that feeds them disinformation, and not only John Mueller but also the major SEO blogs that are all riding on Googles cock, so people are going to belief that Google is that all seeing eye in the sky.

But they are not, and if people did some testing instead of having John Mueller or places like Moz, seo-roundtable and searchengineland pollute their brain they would quickly discover that Google isn't all that powerful as people belief... Just do some testing and you'll get a glimpse of the real power of Google..

Well, several years ago Google did exactly what you said. Most huge public blog networks like Linkvana were completely deindexed.
