All you hear here on blackhatworld is people buying Twitter followers, Facebook fans and YouTube views, maybe it's out there but I have not come cross a decent article that tells you how to utilize Twitter for benefiting your SEO. Twitter is one of the most powerful SEO tools your have in your arsenal, if you know how to use it!!!! Below is data i collected, a method that worked well for me and would like to share with you, to see you succeed as well: 1) Engage with "maven" Twitter users in an effort to get them to Retweet your updates, share your content, and tweet links to your site. These shared links ARE factored into the rankings for Google & Bing's universal search results. These links are also do follow in the data that Google & Bing get from Twitter's "firehose" 2) Use your company's Twitter profile or create a profile representing a company employee to build relationships with other people in your industry. Share their content, engage with them, share your (quality) content with them. Through that process, you will naturally build exposure of your content, resulting in more links. You will also have a higher success rate of DMing or emailing these people with requests for them to link to your content or write a guest post on their site. 3) Use search.twitter.com religiously. Better yet, use Hootsuite or Tweetdeck and set up saved searches monitoring people talking about your industry. Connect with these people, answer their questions, help them share their content, and build relationships. 4) Not only will you more retweets and shares from other Twitter users (Google & Bing both confirmed this factors into rankings for universal search!), but you will also increase your site's exposure and your chances of getting more backlinks to your site from other blogs and websites around the web. 5) Never discount nofollow links, you'd rather a nofollow link on a site with PR than a ******** from a fresh domain - just because it is nofollow doesn't mean it is discounted and the links are always spidered. 6) Remember to post tweets with links when your target demographic read tweets, get them retweeted and do not forget to ask for RT's - the more eyeballs see it the more likely you are to gain links and people to read the articles/webpage etc... 7) Finding and engaging influencers- Using tools such as Klout and PeerIndex, you can easily find who is the authority (or at the very least quite popular) when it comes to topics relevant to the client you are creating a strategy for. By engaging and enlisting the help of these influencers, you can ensure that your content is placed somewhere reputable as well as authoritative. Also, influencers are obviously already advocates of social media, so your content will be socialized amongst those who are most interested & therefore will organically gain importance (or even go viral). This will cause it to be seen by search engines as important & therefore you will get the most out of the content you create due to both placement & amplification. 8) Finding & engaging "fans" - If the client you are building for is already active in social media, then chances are they have Twitter followers. You can engage these fans & use their help to place or share content you create. These "fans" are already interested in what you have to say simply because they care enough to follow the brand or organization on Twitter and therefore will serve as social media advocates for both your client & your content if you include them in your strategy. 9) Knowing what matters - Using Twitter, you can jump into conversations relevant to your client/their industry as they are happening! This can easily create bonds between you and those who you will want to share/place your content. There are so many tools you can use to even narrow search by niche, geographic location, Tweet sentiment, etc to ensure that you know exactly what is important to those you are outreaching to- enabling you to participate as well as tailor content to these topics/needs. 10) Become an influencer - Over time, if you engage & interact correctly, you can be seen as an influencer in a specific relevant industry. This will make socializing and placing content infinitely easier- Twitter users or bloggers will start coming to YOU asking for content. Given Google's increasing implementation of author reputation & authority into search as well as the rise of social search, becoming an influencer will ultimately be your goal with any social media strategy. Use it! Information is your key to succeeding ! Please REP and hit the THANKS button if you found this useful. Also please provide your input and other methods, we are all here to share and succeed! Cheers Ya All!
