How to study competitor methods..

what is interesting is that with keyword spy it looks like they get a lot of visits from the keyword schuelervz some sort of social network I think. The thing that is interesting to me is that it is not even related to their niche or topic.
 
I think You can use IBP for the purpose it will give all the backlinks and also the onsite seo with detailed charts and tables.I think it was shared in the downloads section...

Do you know of any software that categorizes a competitors backlinks? I know scrapebox finds blogs, but I haven't found software to analyze the source of data.
 
No but it's not a bad idea if you make it....

but i never know any software that able to categorize the source

Yes, the software is called HI. Its free and the creator will even install it for you, so in order to run it you actually don't need to do anything. The biggest problem is its effectiveness erodes over time, becoming pregerssivly less function and unable to recognize patterns. You can train it to recognize new patterns and decipher methods by regularly parsing threads at BHW.
