How to structure this?

Hi!

I have a website for RPG games, and currently only covering one game. So I'm planning to make pages for each character, equipment, and artifact. So there's gonna be tons of pages. I'm also planning to make guides for different content in the game. But I'm not really sure to structure and internal link all this. Was planning to try silo but not entirely sure how to do it.

Right now I have a page ranking for the game title on position 12. I have one category for the game, and all the content for the game is under that category. So it's like website.com/game/post.

So my thinking right now is if I should turn the page ranking for the game title to a page that links to all other content for the game. So if visitors go to the page, they can find links to characters, weapons, guides, etc. Or should I make subcategories under the game category? Like website.com/game/guides/post, website.com/game/characters/post, website.com/game/weapons/post.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

You could change the page, but thats going to affect the rankings straight up from moving a pages content to that of an index page.

Upto you though, if your website is good and you are getting traction, and you plan to expand, then the chances are good that your new pages will rank also.

Your page will probably lose ranking, if its a specific term, if its a more general term like "Witcher 3 guides" rather than "Witcher 3 weapons" then you might just get away with improving, and then having subcategories for each of the related pages. Silo isn't so much a thing, its more a method of organizing. So as long as you organize in a hierarchical tree, that is relevant to the site, you'll have a silo.

Why not just "website.com/post" and keep it simple. Use internal linking to create your architecture.

I actually want to do this. But I'm thinking that it would cause a problem if I cover other games in the future with characters having the same name. Like website.com/game1/leon, website.com/game2/leon, if I remove the category it would be website.com/leon for both. Or is there some way around this? Ideally, I would like to have as simple and as short URL as possible.

I'd leave it as website.com/game/post and cover whatever topic I have that's related to the game there.

+1 on building structure with internal links.

If more games are planned, I'd leave /game/ since these games are often extremely repetitive.

But what's the best way to do internal linking? I'm thinking if I create separate pages for, example, weapons, characters, guides. And have each of these pages link to their relevant posts, like weapons link to "Excalibur", "Dragon spear", and these post links back to weapons. But since these weapons are character-specific, should I also link to the character post (let's say, main character Leon) as well?

Also, how do tables do for SEO? I'm thinking of creating a table in, let's say the weapons page, and have a table with image for each weapon and a link to their page. Since it's gonna be a lot of weapons.
