Hi to all, i am new on BHW and i have a question. With few of my friends i opened small organization for photoshouting and video production. My question, how to start?
I done few jobs on odesk, rated 5 starts and I need to get more work. :)
It is hard to find jobs and i know everybody need video marketing. I know that i will, in first, do for less money, but where to find clients?
Can you share few ideas hot to start?
We wanna also record videos, because we have DSLRs, but cannot find clients. Thanks for any tip.

Why not create a marketing campaign for yourself, and showcase your own product?

You mean like my product to be selling video service? Maybe few videos for promotion, make site and to pay maybe google ads?

You need a portfolio for people to look at, show as many aspects of video editing you can do. Make a website and facebook page showing off your work and then just keep promoting in and making cool videos. Start will small stuff: nonprofits and charities always need work. Once people start throwing you name around it will get much easier.

I have one website where i can put my best works, maybe I will post on forum to do some free montage and video recording, to get some feedback and more works.

A good way to get local work to bring in some money is wedding videos, real estate videos, and corporate videos. What I did to begin was I offered a free video to a real estate company to showcase one of their properties. MAKE SURE that you do a fantastic job and are very professional with what you make. I would search youtube for "Dave Dugdate Real estate" and "Dave Dugdale commercial". He shows what he did and gives tips on his first commercials and real estate videos.

Good luck!

Like underground said, weddings and corporate videos will definitely help out with your business. Just yesterday I finished
my first real estate commercial for $1000 and it was my first one. To get jobs that you think you might not be qualified for,
you need to be confident and put together a video reel of all the best work you've done over the years no matter what it is.
In my reel I had no commercial work, but I did have films, weddings, and other personal projects that I did that enticed the
client.

All you need is that first commercial or wedding to put in the reel, and then it's all uphill from there depending on how
hard you push. Try putting an ad up on Craigslist in your area, or if your area is dead then try the nearby biggest city.
My first wedding and film job came from Craigslist, and don't forget that there's nothing wrong with doing one free job
to get your reel footage, but don't let anyone take advantage of you.

This is the reel that I've used to get my jobs just so you have an example:

Offer some freebies for people/companies that will promote them for themselves in order to promote yourself even more in addition to what the rest are suggesting here
