How to start IT related carrier?

Hello!

This is my first post, so I'm not sure if I picked the correct prefix (Business & Tax Advice).

I wanted to ask someone with experience how to get my first job in IT. I was thinking about cybersecurity, but data science feels more comfortable for me since I discovered Excel at school. I got handy and comfortable with that program really fast. Later at university, I discovered SQL, which I kind of struggle with when it comes to tasks above the beginner level (I've been learning it for like 3 months, so that's why). Regarding cybersecurity, I have almost no knowledge. I learn everything by myself and often struggle since there are too many concepts that are overwhelming.

So my questions are:

• What should I focus on?
• What should I do?- How should my CV look if I have no previous experience?
• What should I include in my CV?
• What does a job in cybersecurity/data science look like?
• What does a job interview look like?

First thing you need to do is find a recruiter who can place you for a contractual position. Recruiters will take a cut but you will get you head start.
Find a recruiter that has inside connections. IT industry notoriously work on connections and works on share, cut, percentage, head hunting and bodyshopping.
Applications, CV and Interviews are just formalities, don't worry about it.

Considering your background in Data Science, I recommend enhancing your SQL skills and leveraging your Excel expertise to become proficient in PowerBI. Additionally, start exploring Data Engineering and Azure, as this combination is highly sought in the current IT industry. Wishing you the best of luck in your endeavors!

While you continue learning, get a job as a Help-Desk/Technical-Support agent just to get your foot in the door.

You'll start to make connections and build your network from there.
