How to start an email marketing list ?

Hey guys,
Long time lurker here, only recently took the dive and made an account to post lol.
I have found this thread so useful over the past while - had a SUPER shitty job in a high end bar, had a major falling out with management and had to downsize to an equally crappy, but more pleasant working conditions of a retail store.

That's when I stumbled across this forum and I started reading like a motherfucker.
Have learnt so much from this forum:
- making an anonymous PP
- Monetizing IG account's
- Using ogads

Basically have built my knowledge up to a point where I can make more online than I can in the retail store lol.

So basically anyway I sold my IG account and stuff so at the moment I'm doing a bit of ewhoring - it's the weirdest shit ever but I'm coming out with about 40 for an hour / hour and a half work which is pretty good considering the pay in retail is €9.50 lol.

Anyway so now I'm starting to save a bit of this money I'm looking to reinvest it - pregally in an email list.

I'm looking and researching the timeless niche of weightloss and I think I'll use that niche for my list.

Basically anyway I'm looking to get some advice / words of wisdom on email lists ad email marketing as a whole - I've read guides before but some of them seem very complex for a n00b like me.

Drive traffic to landing page.

Landing page: leadpages, optimize press or even plain html hosted anywhere if you're good at it

I guess you have some experience in lists? How much would that software cost monthly to run?

Disclaimer: I'm a newbie and haven't yet done anything with email lists, but it's on the agenda/

To me, building an email list is best done to supplement an existing traffic source. So if you already have a website with traffic, you can just throw up an email offer (Usually an ebook or other such download), which will then allow you to send additional marketing stuff to those people.

It's a shame you sold the IG account since that could have been your traffic source. You'll need to come up with a way to drive traffic to a landing page, and then get them to sign up with an incentive of your choice.

Someone recommended MailChimp to me - I believe they have a free account for up to 1000 email addresses, which should be enough to get you started.

Good luck with it all! From what I've heard, a large targeted email list can be a powerful tool, especially if you're selling products before christmas, black friday etc.

Software cost zero if you go with self hosted Mautic.Well, just hosting costs.
Sparkpost gives you 100k emails per month for free.That will be enough for a looong time.
For lists, only cost that matters is subscriber(customer) acquisition cost.
That Instagram account would've been useful now, you have Facebook ads option though.It's paid but if you do your job well, you can get laser targeted subscribers.
Let's say you aim to sell a weight loss product for women, and that product helps women above 45 that are gaining weight because they have a stressing job and no time for health.You can take anything from my phrase above and make it an attribute of your target in Facebook ads manager.That's a powerful weapon.
Combined with a good email sequence (you can find examples in that ebook), that's a super profitable business.
