How to setup anonymous e-commerce website for cannabis.

Hello All,


So this is my second attempt to launching a Canadian MOM(mail order marijuana site) and I want to ensure the site operating completely anonymous. I want to know if anybody here could offer me solid advice for

1. Setting up a server for domain and website *anonymous
2. Using a proxy/VPN for computers and mobile devices managing and operating website and communication with customers etc.
3. Any advice from fellow Canadians who may have experience with a similar website business


I was told that Bluehost hosting is a mistake and I should get an off-shore server and build and launch website exclusively on that server?


FYI - there are hundreds of websites doing this business in Canada and majority are not anonymous and I've been hearing many stories of these businesses being shut down by authorities including raids etc... even though the offense is minor now that cannabis is legal Canada wide.

Any help or advice would be very appreciated and helpful!!

I am not sure if it's allowed to talk about it on BHW, but you will not have success on the clear web (that's one thing). You should probably try using TOR instead. And even there, you need some solid VPN, privact based script (unless you code it yourself).

There are about a hundred Canadian MOM sites operating on the clear web today and are doing fine, but I have heard of a few being taken down and authorities finding people homes and locations due to IP address and personal information attached to websites. I'm just looking for anybody experienced in setting up any website anonymously??

Leave shared hosting and get yourself an server.
Purchase a domain with WHOIS protection.
While Purchasing SERVER make sure to use all details fake and use an VPN.
Use IRC or GPG encrypted mails while chatting with customers or setup an fake gmail account or any service account with fake details and VPN.
Just always make sure to use an VPN and never leave any trace about you on anything while purchasing server or while purchasing domain.

NEVER consider Bluehost for another, um , shady. Pretty sure they are a Mormon owned company in Salt Lake and are very restrictive.

I will give you 7 advices but don't take any of these words for granted, I've never done anything like what you'd like to do.

• As others suggested, use a real offshore hosting service. I will not be giving out names, however you can look for Netherlands-based solutions.
• There are plenty of companies that claim to be offshore when they're not, don't bother. Look carefully and make your own research.
• Always purchase hosting and domain using cryptocurrencies or stealth accounts. Obviously take all the precautions you're supposed to take.
• Encrypt all of your email comunications using Tutanota or similiar services. There are plenty of valid apps for secure messaging.
• Never leave traces or your IP. Look for a VPN that has no logs (even though they all keep logs) and always keep kill-switch on.
• You will never be truely anonymous until you keep shipping products using your own informations.
• You will never be truely anonymous until you don't own a dedicated server in a safe country.

Netherlands isn’t really offshore. Plus the day of Megaupload are long gone. Trust me: don’t.

Any viable alternative? I have no clue. Consult a lawyer.

Sure it’s legal here but the penalties for unlicensed sale of nonapproved weed has jail times up to 14 years. That’s hardly a minor offense.

Anonymous hosting is one thing but if the feds start following the money they will find you and shut you down and you might be bubba’s little bitch for a few years without any kush to ease the pain.

Supply is another consideration. Existing users have their sources already and new users can just buy online from the feds.

I appreciate the comments from the BHW faithful. And I'm not aware if this is allowed title/topic, however, some points, if you would allow.

#1 - Where to host
Hosting, and the place of hosting matters less than you'd think.
There are many available hosts, which are canada domestic, and affordable.
I'd be more concerned about the "security" of the host, over if its shared or not.
Your customers want to know their information is secure, with you.

Also, I'd want a host with DDOS protection. After all, when you start to make money, someone will try to get a cut.

#2 - How to host
You can deploy a wordpress, or oscommerce, etc. These shop websites have been use successfully in the USA where retail is allowed.

#3 - Your business is support
Do install chat controls over your site, your customers want to know they can reach you. Having a 'human touch' converts sales.

#4 - Domain registration
Yes, register your domain with any registrar, and you can apply domain privacy techniques.

#5 - Online payments
E-transfer is the dominant payment method for Canadian Canna sites, however, it has a bit of an administrative hassle, as confirmations are manual.
Credit cards are the 2nd best way to get paid, and there are a few payment procesors who'll take your traffic.

#6 - Operational Security
Yes, engage in operational security, to an extent.
You don't want customers knowing where your exact return address is. (if you even care to share one)
However, timely mailing is important. Its a bit of a wild west for online weed still, so not to worry.
A good online reputation is worth its weight in bud.

#7 - You're not Ross Ulbricht, take a breath
Stay in your lane, stick to weed, its derivatives and edibles.
Open a couple store websites, that way if one goes down, the others continue & maintain your traffic
Maintain a mailing list, this is important to keeping the relationship between yourself and customers, during any change of domain/address/policy, etc

Hey! Funny enough i am doing the exact same thing almost - but in a country where cannabis is currently not legalised i am not trying to promote the site for the public like you tho, goal is to promote it to a small telegram group to take ordering drugs online to a new level - Basiclly the same audiences i already have but instead of them going through me they go through the site. I have already worked out all safety precautions in terms of physical danger as an example - i will not be shipping anything, all product ships directly from my supplier in another state to the buyer. So i have no product execpt minor personal use in my home/studio at any time (not tryna end up like shiny flakes) currently only having issues with hosting and setting up the site, even tho its drastically small scale and ment for a small audience only (few hundred people at max) im still getting paranoid aha. Any tips? Would be cool if we could chat on telegram or via protonmail
