How to Set Sitemap Frequency to Set Crawl Budget?

Hi Everyone, I have a large website configured with rankmath, but the problem is on with indexing as my crawl budget is exhausting and most of the URLs are not getting daily indexed.

And crawling sets on a daily basis I have check In GSC. So can anyone tell how to set frequency of sitemap (changefreq & changevalue) in Rankmath or with custom code.

I tried checking everywhere and its saying Google depricated the changefreq.

So please help me as my last number of pages are still unindexed.

Crawl budget mainly comes from the domain's 'authority' in Google's eyes, which mostly comes down to backlinks. Try upping your backlink building, especially to the main hubs of your site that link to your unindexed pages. Changefreq has indeed been depreciated by Google so there really is no use in trying to fiddle with it, as it will be a fruitless endeavour.
 
Google has deprecated the changefreq directive. Better get busy on setting URL priority and submitting your sitemap regularly in Google Search Console. RankMath doesn't directly control crawl frequency, managing your crawl budget effectively also involves optimizing your site's robots.txt, ensuring noindex directives are applied to low-value pages, and improving site performance, which is what you should focus on.
 
Google doesn’t rely on changefreq and priority in sitemaps anymore, so it’s better to focus on improving your crawl budget. Exclude low-value pages from your sitemap, strengthen internal linking, and build backlinks to key pages. It seems like Google doesn't use he change freq tag anymore. You can try improving internal linking and submitting URLs for indexing in Google Search Console. If some pages are still not indexed, make sure your sitemap doesn't have unnecessary URLs.

I am having the same problem with my site. I launched my first blog a few weeks ago and most of my pages are sitting there unindexed even though I submitted the sitemap.
 
You’re righ Google no longer uses changefreq or priority from sitemaps, so adjusting those won’t affect crawl rate. The best way now is to improve internal linking, update important pages regularly, and make sure your server responds fast. Also, keep your sitemap clean with only indexable URLs that helps Google crawl more efficiently.
 
Crawl budget depends more on site quality, internal links, and server speed than sitemap tags.
