Hi there, I’m looking for advice. I run a very nitch website. I make money off of advertising on the site, affiliate links, a paid directory and a Shopify/dropship storefront. I managed to get a list of very targeted email addresses that are in my nitch. The list is huge, 80k, but they have not opted in. I want to email them something very nonspammy, just a newsletter related to our industry. I have a pro account with Constant Contact, but I’m afraid of ruining the account by getting flagged. So I used a list cleaning service for about 3k of the emails, and I made a Mailchimp account. I did small batches for a month but still got flagged for hard bounces. Since there is no way of telling a hard bounce... till it’s too late, how do I clean this list? I plan to move slowly and develop a relationship. What would you recommend ? Eventually I’d like to have everyone in CC but need to test the addresses elsewhere first. Thoughts?

If they are not opt-in I don't recommend using them as this is illegal.

Anyway, to market to such email list just do a small research in Google and compare SMTP services. Then buy a strong SMTP server and use it with a mailer such as 1st mass mailer.

To get them to the inbox you should 'ot use spam keywords.

Just wondering here..
If half of those e-mails in your list are from google's gmail service, isn't google going to block e-mails from your server?

Actually, at least in the US, under CANSPAM it is not illegal to mail someone who hasn't opted in. What is illegal is not having an opt-out, and not using it. (source: http://www.lsoft.com/resources/optinlaws.asp)

That being said, it's almost certainly going to be a bad time if you don't know what you're doing. Your ConstantContact account will 100% get flagged and deleted.

you should not have gotten hard bounces if you used a good cleaning service. My guess is you used a cheap/free one, which is why your bounce rate is so high.

Even using an ESP like mailchimp, I don't think you are going to inbox all 80k of this. maybe the first 5k, if you're really lucky and doing everything right.

What’s a good list cleaning service? I would pay to have the hard bouncess removed.

Also note, I don’t care if I take a year getting all 80k cleaned and running. I’m fine with testing say 200-500 a day. I was thinking with that method, I could Even use my own gmail account, and export what’s not bouncing into CC as time goes on. Could that work?

you could try to create a facebook audience, and market to them that way

Clean them first using impressionwise then remove any AOL and Yahoo emails as they get really bad spam complaints then import and send with GR360 or infusionsoft

you can use a service like emaillistverify dot com or bulkemailchecker dot com i found those to be fair in price

(these are not my sites/services)

The best mail cleaning service, without a doubt, is EmailOversight.com, but they will be pricey. You should reach out to Brian Jenkins directly and see what he can do for credits.

If you want something a bit cheaper, reach out to Dave Manning at ListCertified. They're solid, and I've used them for years as well.

My guess is you're not gonna get much of a discount though, because 80k is a small amount. For example, I usually buy 1mm credits at a time from these guys.

For delivery: if you wanna send small batches at a time, you can use a gmail account, but it will block you after like 20 messages I think? (for a new account). If you can go low and slow, just churn GetResponse accounts.

The only way to send emails for free is through providers like gmail, yahoo!, but they have anti-spam policy, and you are able to send only 150 emails per day via them. So, there are only two ways:
Send 150 emails per day via gmail you can create more accounts to send more emails.
Send 50 000 emails in a few clicks via send pulse you will have to create an account there, add subscribers to your list, write a template of your emails, and send them

This is a blackhat forum, isn't there a way to clean email list for free?

the way to do it for free is complicated and basically involves sending every email and recording back the response.

OP is already having issues sending the emails, so he's gonna be up a creek.

Either get email service provider..who will charge for their smtp server..or else build your own mail server..you can build mail server in just 30 mnts. Either way is good..if you are fine with spending money then take service of any good email service provider..if you want to cut on unecessary expenses then build your own mail server
