How To Sell Your Domain Names!

Here I'm sharing a step by step process that I use to list domains at maximum places possible. You can replicate the same.

Remember, no matter how good your domain is but without promoting and listing it for sale, it won't sell. ON THE FLIP SIDE a bad domain will never sell no matter how much you promote or list it. Always keep these 2 things in mind.

Here we go. If you have any domain(s). Follow these steps and your domain will be sold with utmost guarantee if it has even a slight demand:

  1. Unlock the domain at your registrar, and make sure it is eligible for transfer out.
  2. Create an account at DAN.com and list your domain for at $995 BUY NOW + Accepting offers. Enable installment payments options. Point your domain's nameservers to that of DAN.
  3. Create an account at Afternic.com and list your domain for $996. Make sure to activate Afternic's Faster transfer, and approve any domain verification email you receive.
  4. Create an account at SEDO.com and list your domain for $997. Make sure to activate SEDOMLS Premium, and approve any domain verification email you receive.
  5. Create an account at Flippa.com, and list the domain under free catalog list at "Accept offers" mode.
  6. Additionally, if the domain is registered at Godaddy, list the domain as Godaddy premium listing for sale at $998.

Important Pointers:​


  • There is a reason pricing is kept what it is. The "psychological" figure of 95/97/99 still works, more so for domain buyers.
  • There's also a reason why there's a difference of $1 in pricing between each platform. Just follow it - or ask about it if you're curious.

  • You can of course increase or decrease the figure based upon your expectation and quality of the domain such as $1997/$4995/$9997 etc but make sure the ends in psychological figure and the pricing is different on each platform.
  • Make sure to keep your payout information completely filled and updated at all platforms.
  • Make sure to verify any and all emails you receive from the above platforms for domain verification.
  • Most of these steps can only be performed when the domain is eligible for transfer out - i.e., domain should be at least 60 days old for that. So do them only when your domain is more than 60 days old.
  • In an event of a sale by the above methods, the domain will be automatically sold and removed from your account, so don't panic saying where has my domain gone without my permission, if it gets sold.
  • If you no longer own the domain, or sell it anywhere outside, make sure to de-list/remove it from the marketplaces you listed at.
  • There are various reasons for many of the steps here as to why they are how they are. I can't go on to explain every single one of them but everything has its importance. If you want to know the reason behind any particular step or process, just ask in comments.

Once again, these steps can maximize your selling chances but only if your domain has sale potential. No marketing strategy can work if your domain itself is inherently bad and is of no use to any end user.

Why the 1 difference between the platforms? Unsure how that helps.

Flippa in my experience is a waste of time unless you are selling cheap domains and/or are willing to answer hundreds of questions before they offer not a lot.

Lots of evidence on 97 and 98 but not so much on 95.
 
I have seen domains for sale on Warriorplus,maybe another option

So, the difference is because multiple venues insert the domains in the registrar search process. So it is possible that if someone is searching for your domain at Dynadot, and Dynadot being partner of both SEDO and AFTERNIC, it will show inventory from both, or one.

So from which registrar injection marketplace you are getting your list from, would be determined by the difference in price.

So in this case, If you see $995 pricing of your domain, you know it is being fetched from Afternic. If you see your domain at $996, you know it is being fetched from SEDO. If the pricing will be same, you will never know which marketplace it is being displayed from, and also they may clash.
 
If you wish to sell your domains, then list your name on aftermarkets like afternic, sedo, dan etc.

With Afternic, you can list your domain name on their sales platform and have it sent out to more than 100 different partners around the world. If you list on afternic then you can see the domain is available for sale other registrars like namecheap, godaddy, dynadot etc partners with your buy now price.
 
Godaddy deduct a lot of money, i sell my domain on godaddy in $300 and deduct $100 their fee and $50 transaction cost and i received only $150
Godaddy is a pure scam company

godaddy commission is 25% you can also reduce the commission to 15% if you point the domain to their name servers! :)

GoDaddy charged 15%, SEDO Charge 15% and If you use DAN marketplace then It will also charge 15%, You have to point their nameservers on your domain while listing the names on the marketplace. If you don't use their nameservers then Godaddy and DAN will charge 25% commission on domain sale.
 
The whole domain space is a re-selling scheme. So is 99% of digital infrastructures.
Go to any VPN and check what hosts are their IPs. It says "digitalocean", "t-mobile", "amazon".

ICANN is bribed or something by providers buying in bulk. Jk, they have official, enterprise deals.
So a basic domain that costs cents, people resell via marketing + sales strategies at 100000% value.
Pure digital reselling business. I wouldn't recommend cause it attracts greedy, get rich quick scheme psychology crowd.

Although if you automate it using informatics, it's easier.

And I saw people giving domains for free. You just need to prove your project makes sense, and they fund you all those domains. There are some places like that, but I didn't research that. A project that makes sense is just something that has potential like social media marketing. Nothing major.

If someone wants to start with it, you can do some SEO manipulation with cheap, automated links.
This would increase vanity metrics that people pay for and they mean nothing.
But you can introduce honesty into your strategy and tell them how those domains you created are better.

Now you will need to find a person that will sell you 1000 domains at a discount. And in 3 - 5 months do a lot of automatics on them.
Once it's done, put them on market and you make x hundred / thousand% margin on each.
The thing with it is that you're doing things over time, so you're selling 5 months of building of a domain.
But since you automate that using informatics, you generate bits / money without problems.
