I think this is the most fitting category, but mods feel free to move if you deem it necessary.

So in a nutshell, I've set up phpBB 3.0.11 with AutoMOD and TapaTalk support, but how do I make sure that the board is secure enough? I have the typical captcha, email verification and such in place, but is there anything else I should know?

I'm pretty much ready to go live with this, just some minor tweaking to WP-mainsite, so any swift info is highly appreciated ;)

I think the importance of securities is choosing host:
You should choose VPS for better securites.

I guess so, but I do not have that much of experience running VPS for this kind of stuff, so I'll stick with HostTheName for the moment. If need be, and the forum starts to grow (which, hopefully, will happen ;)), then I need to look more into this option.

But if everything looks good enough by this, then I guess it's time to do some last minute fixing and get the show on the road! Thanks!

dont go for unmanaged self hosting if you dont know 100% what you are doing.
if you board earns you money get a proper managed hosting and not those $2.99 crap offers ;) then you should be safe

No matter where your host your site but you gotta remember that Xrumer is not dead yet. So you would need a Mod to keep the spammers at Bay. Download it here.
